20 Years Living Positively

“I’m marking twenty years of living with HIV through Positivity in Action - volunteering in Zambia to give back and share what living positively really means.”

In August 2026, I’ll reach a milestone I once thought impossible - twenty years living with HIV.

To mark it, I’m travelling to Zambia to volunteer with African Impact, supporting community health and education projects in Livingstone. It’s not the same place I volunteered a decade ago, but it carries the same spirit - connection, learning and the opportunity to make a difference.

I won’t be celebrating with a party, but with purpose. As well as reflecting on the challenge and change of the last twenty years, I’ll be giving thanks, and doing something that feels right: giving back through Positivity in Action.

PositiveImpact20 is my way of saying thank-you for the science, care and kindness that have kept me here - and offering something in return.

This project is about more than my story. It’s about hope for those still facing stigma, for communities still fighting for healthcare, and for anyone who needs to see that living positively can also mean living fully.

Follow my journey as I prepare, volunteer, and reflect on twenty years of living positively - and join me in turning gratitude into action.
